“I wrote Fade Away with fellow Nottingham artist Liam Bailey after we got talking about that weird crab-in-the-barrel mentality you can sometimes experience when you’re chasing your dreams.
At one point Liam just went, “Yeah, you just gotta let them fade away.” And from there, the song came pretty naturally!”
Following Jungle Child, Fade Away brings out ROB.GREEN’s playful lyricism and lush grooves — turning the end of a friendship into something unexpectedly joyful.
“I realised other people’s bad vibes weren’t mine to reckon with. You can spend so much energy explaining yourself, fighting back or trying to make somebody understand you — or you can let them get on with it, step out of their way and make room for yourself. That feeling was incredibly liberating. I wanted the record to feel like that: hand in the air, sidestepping out of the drama and onto the dance floor.”
Produced by Ivor Novello winner Cassell the Beatmaker, Fade Away marks the beginning of a new run of releases leading into ROB.GREEN’s debut album in 2027.

ROB.GREEN is a Nottingham-born alt-soul artist and songwriter blending soul, gospel, rock and pop with candid storytelling and a powerful live presence. An Ivor Novellos In The Making artist, his music has earned support from BBC Radio 1, BBC 6 Music and BBC Introducing, while his live career has taken him from Glastonbury Festival and the BBC Proms to supporting artists including Earth, Wind & Fire and Eric Bibb.
Following 2023's visual EP MANHOOD, ROB.GREEN is now building towards his debut album, beginning its next chapter with Fade Away.
