ROB.GREEN - MANHOOD EP & THE UNDERCOVER TOUR
MANHOOD (EP)
The MANHOOD EP (out 03 NOV 2023) is a visual EP project that brings together ROB.GREEN’s spoken word poetry, intricate harmonies and acoustic alt/soul feel to communicate messages about self-love, connecting with our emotions, and letting people we trust in close.
It picks apart elements of masculinity, sexuality and racial identity and identifies the power of transcending these labels to connect with each other on a human level.

ABOUT ROB.GREEN & MANHOOD EP
Rob draws great inspiration from his life growing up as dual-heritage and gay to create his music, as well as unite and connect with audiences. Usually armed with just his acoustic guitar and loop pedal, Rob has opened Arena shows for internationally acclaimed soul and pop acts, such as Earth Wind & Fire, Mama’s Gun, Eric Bibb, Alexander O’Neal and the Whitney Houston Hologram Tours.
A mental health advocate, Rob’s upcoming EP MANHOOD explores his racial identity, sexuality and masculinity; unpicking the complex relationship between the concept of “MANHOOD”, forging the path to self-love and the importance of community and connection to acheive this. The EP was inspired after Rob read the actor Viola Davis’ Autobiography in which she talks about the time her therapist tasked her with taking her childhood self to work with her in order to show her all of her childhood challenges and hardship would lead to better things.
“It really stuck with me; and in a way this EP is my thank you to the boy [I was]. And a lesson from him then, to me now, to stay open hearted. Our road is long; so we’re finding love and gratitude right here and now.”
- ROB.GREEN
The first single from the project I’LL BE AROUND (released 22 SEPT ‘23) was made BBC Introducing Track of the Week after a rave reaction from BBC Introducing’s Dean Jackson and was added to Tom Robinson’s BBC 6MUSIC introducing Mixtape:
‘Just SO on point, musically, instrumentally, vocally; the tone of his voice is to die for… heartbreaking actually. Nobody else does it quite like ROB.GREEN’
- Dean Jackson, BBC Introducing East Midlands
‘Confessional, life affirming… Genuinely the kind of songwriting that can save lives’
- Tom Robinson, BBC 6MUSIC
On I’LL BE AROUND, Rob discusses growing up being called ‘half-caste’, fears of standing out and his experiences trying to convert his own sexuality. The single sets the tone for the EP’s open and emotional tone.
The latest single from the Project WHAT ARE WE WAITING FOR? (released 20 OCTOBER) was added to primetime rotation playlist on BBC Radio Nottingham and deals with self-doubt and overthinking.‘We have ONE LIFE’ Rob reminds the listener ‘WHAT ARE WE WAITING FOR?’.
This is an ethos the self-managed and self-releasing artist will extend into The Undercover Tour his planned tour in Spring 2024. Bringing together a local lineup of artists, poets and listeners into secret, intimate spaces around the country. We will see warm, welcoming, immersive living rooms or as Rob has coined, “a very different kind of man cave” inviting us to gather, to reflect and explore the EP’s themes around the importance of seeking support, curating healthy social circles and connecting with, and honouring our true selves.
